From our campsite near Avignon, in Vedène, you’re ideally placed to join in these shows without wasting a minute. Here’s everything you need to know to make the right choices and make sure you don’t miss out on any of the summer festivities.
When and where to see the fireworks around Avignon?

July 14th in Avignon
The July 14th fireworks display is the highlight of the year. In Avignon, the fireworks show is traditionally fired from the banks of the Rhône, opposite the famous Pont Saint-Bénézet. The reflection of the lights on the river, the silhouette of the Palais des Papes in the background, the colors exploding in the Provencal night: it’s a picture you won’t forget.
The show generally lasts around twenty minutes, but we recommendarriving well in advance to choose your spot. The area around the Daladier Bridge and the Pont de l’Europe offers great views of the shooting.
For exact dates and times, please consult the official website of the city of Avignon or that of the tourist office, which publish announcements and news throughout the season.
Other communes in Vaucluse
July 14th isn’t just the preserve of the City of the Popes. Many communes in the Vaucluse organize their own bonfires, often in a particularly warm, village festival atmosphere. Carpentras, Sorgues, Apt and the villages of the Luberon region regularly offer local shows on a human scale, sometimes more accessible than those in the city center.
A regularly updated list is available from local town halls and tourist offices. The results of your search will vary from year to year: some communes alternate or add new events to their program, depending on budgets and municipal decisions.

Where to stand?
For the Avignon fireworks, the quays on the left bank often offer better visual clearance. The Célestins gardens and the heights of the Rocher des Doms are also popular spots – expect some crowds.
Traffic and access
On the evening of July 14th, traffic in town is heavy and parking limited. From Vedène, the road is normally fast, but allow a comfortable margin. Some roads, including those near the Daladier bridge, may be partially closed, depending on the security arrangements put in place by the authorities.
